dogsbody
dogsbody is an eclectic and ever-fluctuating group of like-minded community builders with an unrivaled sound. Formed in 2021 out of a shared performance ideology and deep friendship, the group consists of a trio of drummers (Nicole Patrick, Amy Garapic, and Jess Tsang) who collide with Liz Faure’s pedal steel, Anna Meadors’ saxophone, and Eleonore Oppenheim’s bass, yielding genre-defying improvisational compositions that range from ethereally ambient to fervent experimental noise.
dogsbody’s musical language is inspired by everyday experiences, noticings, and objects. Sound phenomenology – literally the study of phenomena: appearances of sounds, the ways we specifically experience sound, or the meaning sounds have in our experience – is the primary focus of our sonic exploration together.
dogsbody listens closely to each other. The music we make begins from a place of shared community and sensitivity - jumping between the musical languages of heavy metal, noise, free jazz, and everything in between. Our ethos is built on believing in alternative and non-normative ways of moving through sonic spaces and prioritizing the shared histories and shared poetics of our members.
